STEP BY STEP METHOD FOR DOING SIMRAN MEDITATION: Why resonating / remembering in mind the WORD OF GOD - Waheguru / Ram / Allah / Sai...... is greater than singing, uttering, physical recitation

The way to do Simran , is by doing antar (inside) ........listening by mind.....remembrance.......yaad (in hindi)......simarti ( in sanskrit)....simran (in punjabi/ gurmukhi).

Sri Sukhmani Sahib explains:
(notice pavitar comes 3 times then puneet is obtained),

Sri Anand Sahib explains:
(sunte: listening = puneet) (kehte: singing = pavit) meaning that by listening we receive three times as much phal.

No wonder why Guru Ji says Kaljug meh kirtan pardhana Gurmukh japeeay laye dhiana.

Here again Guru sahib has emphasised on Dhian ........listening.....remembrance...yaad (in hindi)......simarti ( in sanskrit)....simran (in punjabi/ gurmukhi)

When we read / speak / sing the WORD OF GOD like Waheguru / Ram / Allah / Sai etc, our CONSCIENCE   (MAN) may not necessarily be with us. How ever, if we just remember the same WORD of GOD in our MIND without speaking with tongue and only by remembering in mind, this is only possible with our ACTIVE CONSCIENCE. Without conscience remembrance is just not possible.

Following are the few steps in which one  can master this:
  1. Find a silent place in your house, preferably in morning hours. The embroisal hour of 12-30am to 4am is most bliss full, fruitfull and rewarding.
  2. But dont psotepone it only for not waking up early. Just start the day you think abou it.
  3. Firstly, for some time reciting with tongue and hearing it.  WORD OF GOD may be Waheguru / Ram / Allah / Sai etc, as the religion / faith calls for.  Should be loud as much that only you can hear it clearly.
  4. Then for few minutes only move lips & tongue but without making sound.
  5. In the third stage now stop the movement of tongue as well. Tightly freeze your tongue and now concentrate the MIND on the sound or the WORD OF GOD  that you were earlier reciting. The word may be Waheguru / Ram / Allah / Sai etc, as the religion / faith calls for.
  6. This must be practised with humility, devotion, love & attachment and not be a mere DRY remembrance.
  7. Do it with belief that what you are doing is changing your inner self, modifying your attributes yoiur character, nature. A great evolution is ON.
  8. Innitialy you shall find difficult to do for few minutes also. But keep doing without harming your self, keep increasing the duration gradually. Keep doing with irritation or devotion, but don't stop - dont miss a day. Even if you dont enjoy just carry on.
  9. Carry on and you shall find sooner or later the same shall become soothing, you shall start ralishing it, enjoying it.
  10. A stage would come that when ever you desire to remember GOD, the sound would start resonating in your MIND automaticaly without any efforts.

Part 01 HOW TO DO MANTAR JAAP / MEDITATION / NAAM SIMRAN, HOW ITS DIFFERENT THAN JAAP / RECITATION OF GURU MANTAR. MEDITATION TECHNIQUE IN SIKHISM - SIMRAN SADHNA mp3 by Baba (Bhai Sahib) Ram Singh Ji, Nanaksar wale: STEP BY STEP METHOD TO DO JAAP AND SIMRAN

THIS PART 1 FOCUSES ON BASIC JUGTI / MEDITATION TECHNIQUES FOR BEGINNERS

Four types of Satguru (Satguru char parkaarde hunday hunn): Bachan By Sri Guru Hargobind Ji

There was a Gursikh named Chadda who’s house was in Agra. (22)

Sikhs would gather in the dharamsala (place of worship) , do Kirtan and Naam Simran. Wherever hesaw Bhajan (Waheguru’s praises) being performed, hewould do abundant seva there. (23)

He would come to Sri Guru Hargobind Ji and did sevawith great love. One day whilst sitting by Guru Ji , withclasped hands he humbly requested. (24)

“Heh Satguru Ji by which method do you save Sikhs?  By imparting gunn (good habits) and eradicating Augunn (vices etc.)?” Upon hearing this Guru Ji said “Satguru char parkaarde hunday hunn (there are four types of Satguru).” (25)

“Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the foremost amongst the four , whose naam being just heard causes the Jamm(grim reaper) to let go. One Guru is akin to Titli (butterfly like) , it takes any category of Keedah(insect)”. (26)

"Upon keeping them safe in its house for a long time ,the keedah (insect) too becomes a titli. It transformsany variety of keedah into its own form , but it can beseen that not all keedah become titli it only selects onekind to transform into a titli." (27)

"One Guru is like Paras (touchstone), if any one type of metal comes into contact with it then it will turn it intogold but cannot make the metal into Paras (touchstone)itself. It will not impart its power to anyone/anythingetc." (28)

"One Guru is like Bavan Chandan (fragranced tree),during a particular season it will fragrant all the treesthat are nearby it. This can only be done during a particular season and not all the time." (29)

"One Satgur is on a par with a diva (candle like device),if another diva comes into contact with it then it canlight that up too provided that the diva comes to it withtel (oil) and batti (wick)." (30)

"Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is Param Kirpaloo (supremeblessings), if anyone becomes a Sikh with Sharda(faith), reads and listens to Satguru Ji's Bani thenhe/she will slowly become a Brahm Gyani (havingdivine knowledge)." (31)

"Their Atmah becomes Anand May (blissful), if theywish they too can make others like them. There is notechnique required other than meeting with Satsangat (holy congregation)." (32)

"From this Kalyan (liberation) is attained, the bandan(shackles) of births and deaths become naash(destryoyed)." Chaddha became an eagerdevotee of Satsangat after hearing this beautiful Updesh (teachings). (33)

POWER OF SRI MOOL MANTAR SAHIB JI– Travelling to Sach Khand in a blink of eye - By Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji

The below story was shared with me by a Gursikh and I am posting it here to share with you…….

There was a Pandit Ji (I think his name was Mita Nand or Nita Nand) during the time of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. One day he was sitting in langar next to some Guru Ke Singh and he overheard them saying how long it takes them to get to Sachkhand. One Singh said, “I close my eyes and I get to Sachkhand and when I open them, I’m back here again, that is how fast it is”.

The Pandit Ji was shocked to hear this and went to Maharaj and said, “Maharaj Ji, tuwade sikh ehna jhoot bolde ne?” (Maharaj Ji, your Sikhs tell lies like that?)

Maharaj said, “Why Mita Nand, what happened?”

He went on to tell Maharaj what he had heard whilst sitting in langar and Maharaj started laughing. The Pandit Ji then said in the Vedas it says that a punni person, (somebody who does good deeds) takes a few months to get to Sachkhand and a pappi person, (somebody who does bad deeds) takes them a very very long time to get to Sachkhand. It’s almost impossible.

But how can your Sikhs say that they can get to Sachkhand by just closing their eyes? How is this possible Maharaj Ji?”

Maharaj then explained that doing good or bad deeds is very different from doing bhagti. Maharaj went on and said that a Guru Ka Sikh does not get involved with too much of each as his journey should have bhagti in it. Guru Sahib asked Mita Nand if he also wanted an avastha of the likes he had heard from the Singhs in langar. Mita Nand quickly replied, “Of course Maharaj”.

Maharaj told the Pandit Ji to do Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji 22 hours a day – one after the other followed by 2 hours of sleep for 6 months none stop. He was also told that while doing Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji he should also do seva in the langar.

The Pandit Ji said, “Satbachan” and followed Guruji’s instructions. After 6 months passed like this he came back to Guru Sahib and placed his head at Maharaj’s charankamal and said, “Maharaj Ji, your Sikhs do not lie! Now when I close my eyes I also go to Sachkhand and when I open them Im back here, just like that.

The only one supreme karma without which all other karmas done shall not reap fruits....How to make best of our good deeds, multiply value of our good deeds by ten times and make them non diminishing too: Mahan jugti (great technique) for making Punn Karams (good deeds) become ten folds - Vachan (bachan) By Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji 6th Patshahi

Bhanu Bel Updesh Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji 6th Patshahi.
Guru Ji imparted a mahan jugti (great technique).

“Consider Remembrance , Meditating on God''s Name to be the mathematical number one, all other actions are on a par to zero. Write number one first, then by following it with a zero its value has increased by ten fold”.

“If the number one is not placed before the zeros then just zeros by themselves are valueless. These zeros hold no value in counting etc. Since it remains nothing.”

 Bhanu Behl.

 Raas 5th, Adaiy 46th.

In Rajmahalpur lived a Sikh named Bhanoo Behl , headopted Sikhi with great love and would engage in hisduties according to Guru Ji’s matt (instructions). (1)

He meditated upon Satnam Waheguru; he shared his food before eating it himself. He came to Sri Hargobind

Ji and upon placing offerings he bowed his head. (2)

He asked the ocean of knowledge (Guru Ji) “Shaastarscontain many teachings, some praise Tapp (endurance)and Tirith (holy sites) and some say engage in Vart  Nem.” (3)

“Some do Jugg Horm , some say make donations but inthe house of Satguru the greatness is only achieved through the simran of Satnam.” (4)

“What is the difference between them? explain this. Inwhat way is the Mehmah (greatness) of Satnammore?”. Upon hearing this Guru Ji imparted a mahan jugti (great technique). (5)

“Consider Satnam to be the mathematical number one,all other actions are on a par to zero. Write number one first, then by following it with a zero its value hasincreased by tenfold”. (6)

“If the number one is not placed before the zeros then just zeros by themselves are valueless. These zeros hold no value in counting etc. Since it remains nothing.” (7)

“In this way without Satnam everything is veyarth(waste). There are some Punn Karam (good deeds) whose phall (reaction) is from beginning to end, i.e.diminishes. If one is not followed by zero then it cannot become tenfold but will remain one in itself it will not diminish.” (8)

“All other Dharam (faiths) are of the previous yugs(eras) , they can only be accomplished if man is very strong and has plentiful wealth. I Kalyug only Satnamis prominent , from this sukhah da ghar(happiness/liberation) can be attained.” (9)

“Freedom cannot be attained without Naam , withcommitting other karam hankaar (ego) is given rise to. With Hari Simran (Waheguru meditation) the mann(mind) becomes snimar (humble) , the end time is filled with sukh (pleasure).” (10)

“This is the difference , recognise this in the mind , thisis without hankaar (ego).” Bhanoo Behl filled withhappiness upon hearing this. He accepted Guru Ji’swords and took them to heart. (11)

Who is Saint (Sant)? How does a saint be like? How to identify a holy person or a saint, what would be his attributes: Sant Characteristics & Attributes by 6th Patshahi, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji

Sant Characteristics Updesh 6th Patshahi

There was a Sikh named Tirith , he worked in the king’sarmy. He arrived in the Sharan (sanctuary) of Sri  Hargobind Sahib. With clasped hands he said.(11)

“I spend all day in my work , I cannot take time out for Naam Simran. How will we attain salvation? “ Gur Ji gave updesh , as such:- (12)

“Do the seva of Sants on a daily basis , give them food and clothes. A person who gives a cow grass and feed ,he alone attains the milk”.(13)

“In the same way serve the Sadh , they will become pleased and will impart the easy route to udaartah(salvation). Then that person becomes accustomed to Bhagat Gyan (Devotional knowledge).(14)

“How will I recognise a Sant?” he asked upon hearingthis , “the person that I need to serve”. At that point  Satguru Ji imparted a technique , “A king desired”.(15)

“How can I see Hans (swan like creatures) with myown eyes?”, so he started doing seva of many panchi (birds) in his palaces. He feed all the panchi with avaried choga (feed). Panchi came from near and  far.(16)

Upon pecking the choga the panchi’s would spread the praise of this place at the Maan Sarovar ( gathering place). The Hans there heard the praise and said to the

rest that we too shall go to the palaces of the king.(17)

We will go there and show devotion , where panchi pickthe feed daily. As such a pair of Hans arrived there and showed themselves.(18)

Upon seeing them the people informed the King. Theking was overjoyed and brought along with him milkand pearls which he placed in front of the pair of Hans. The Hans separated the water and drank the milk and ate the pearls.(19)

They regurgitated round precious gems. They flew backoff to their own abode. The king was overwhelmed ashe collected the gems.(20)

When the gems were taken to the Jauri (jeweller) theking was then informed that these gems are worthmore than his entire kingdom. And that is why do theseva of all , the ones that come to you will grace youwith Brahm Gyan (Divine Knowledge).(21)

Bhai Tirth became estatic upon hearing Guru Ji’s Bachan and started the sukhdayak (pleasure giving)seva of Sants. He would achieve bliss by meditating onWaheguru and ultimately he merged with Guru in theend.(22)
“What attributes do Sant have?”
Phaava Dhero was a Sikh who lived in Ujjain whoengaged in Bhaghti of Guru Ji in his home. He would listen to kirtan and also do kirtan. He would sleep fortwo pehar (three hours) at night.(23)
He would do bhaghti for the remaing six pehar. By attending Satsangat he became very wise. He would come to Guru Ji after six months , upon seeing guru Ji he would be filled with bliss.(24)
“What attributes do Sant have?” he asked Guru Ji oneday. “What are the lachan (characteristics) of Sant?” Then Sri Hargobind Ji said. “There is a Satguru slokwhich describes a sant”.(25
Whoever has these six qualities, O Nanak, is called a Holy friend.40
The person who has received the Mantar of the Naamof the Prabhu Malik (Waheguru Ji) and who engages inthe simran of the omnipresent Lord.
Who considers pain and happiness as the same , whoseactions are pure and without hate.Who is compassionate towards all things and has acontrol over the five vices. Who’s intake is eulogising
Waheguru Ji and remains unaffected by maya in thesame way that a lotus flower is unaffected bysurrounding mud etc.
Who serves friends and foes on the same level and onlyhas love for Waheguru devotion.
Who doesn’t listen with own ears to the nindya(slander) of others and who kills their own ego tobecome the dust of all. Whosoever possesses theses six attributes , heh Nanak their name is mitr (friend) , Sant and full human.
Who engages in Naam Simran and who sees Waheguruin everyone , remains stable in sorrow and happiness.Who is pure , without hatred , and Nirala (detached) ,always remains attached to Prabhu.(26)

GURU SAHIB JI DE BACHAN: Three Nether Regions (planes) of spirituality: Three Khands as explained by Guru Nanak Ji in Japji Sahib

Saram Khand
Beyond there is another world composed of material yet more suksham. This world is also known as Rupa. Guru Nanak Dev Ji writes, Saram Khand ki bani rupe Here only those people reach who have learnt to do without any motivating desire. Sharam Khand is essential for Bhagats before they can enter Karam Khand and Sach Khand. Sharam Khand is like prep Khand for entering Karam Khand and Sach Khand. This Khand is extremely beautiful. Everything there is just too beautiful to describe. At the lower end are those who cultivated affection and at the higher level those who possess besides affection, devotion also. Here every thought takes up a form as it is expressed. It is a world where pure knowledge, wisdom, intellect and understanding belong.

Tithai ghariai surat mat man buddh
Tithai ghairai sur sidha ki suddh.
It is here that the skill of men of supernatural powers is fashioned.
Karam Khand.
The next higher level is what Guru Nanak Dev Ji calls, Karam Khand. This is a place of formlessness, for here thoughts instead of forming shapes express themselves as formless radiating vibrations. It is these that Guru Nanak Dev Ji calls, jor”, the force.

Karam Khand ki bani jor.
Karam Khand and Sach Khand exist in such fashion as a house and varaandaah exists. Varaandah is like the outskirts of a house but within the boundery of the property. Normally the top of the varandaah is ceiling. From Karam Khand one can view the inside of the house and know what is going on inside but can’t go inside. There is immense Anand (Bliss) in this Khand. Both Karam Khand and Sach Khand are eternal Khands. Here only the mighty can reach, this is the abode of the highest gods.
Tithai jodh maha bal sur
Tim meh raam rehia bharpur
Tithai sito sita mehma mahey.
Ta kay rupe na kathne jahey
Na oh mareh na thage jai
Jin ke raam vasai man mahey

Tithai bhagat vasah ke loe..
The words Tithai jodh maha bal sur refer to the mighty spiritual powers who battled with themselves and ultimately attained this level. These are those who are filled with God and the realisation of God. Here women of the highest virtue like Sita, reach their Rupa or form, although the form cannot be describes as in fact it is formless. Those who live here never die, nor can they ever be deceived, this being so because they are all, knowledge. Here live the saints of the highest order who guide the world and who are filled with His name and are perfectly at bliss.
Satch Khand.
Higher still is the atmic plane, for his is where God, the Nirankar belongs. Since this plane cannot be described by the language of the world of three dimensional forms, Guru Nanak Dev Ji calls it simply as Satch Khand – the realm of Truth. This is where Nirankar himself dwells. Satch Khand is huge and the whole creation including other 4 Khands are within Satch Khand. Satch Khand surrounds the whole creation and is inside the whole creation. In essence Satch Khand is Waheguru himself. It is futile to write anything about it. Guru Nanak Sahib has written that to describe Sach Khand is like chewing iron (Nanak, Kathna KaraRaa Saar).
“Satch khand vasai Nirankar
kar kar vehai nadhar nihaal
Tithai khand mandal varbhand
Je ko tathai ta ant na ant
Tithai loa loa akar
Jiv jiv hukam tivai tiv kar
Vekhay vigsay kar vichaar
Nanak kathna karara saar”
Nirankar dwells here and looks upon his creation with benign attention. There are countless universes, planets and continents, all of which He sees and watches over. Al these are beyond ones power to explain, for how can formlessness be described through forms ?
It follows that a man of desires will never be able to reach the level of pure intellect, which is Saram Khand. The desire to renounce desire is also a desire, though of a higher kind, so long as even this exists one cannot spiritually evolve. The action of a man desires is always motivated . A man of desire has always fixed a goal which he wishes to accomplish. After fixing the goal, he lays down plans and schemes to realise this goal. This plan is the result of his own reasoning based upon is memories and experiences. No two person will approach a situation in the same way they will each judge it from their own viewpoint, no one will be able to comprehend the truth in its totality. Under such circumstances whatever plan one lays for the realisation of one’s aim, will be the line outside one will not be able to see. So long as one is possessed of the subtlest desire, the understanding in totality will be impossible for him to comprehend
After all desires a calmed one is transformed into a higher Khand. In order to attain God, desire and intellect itself needs to be renounced. But a man who renounces desire and cultivates thoughtlessness, is very much a victim of the desires and thoughts he is trying to renounce. Renunciation will not come by consciously cultivating it. It will come only one when one neither wants, nor not wants. Guru Nanak Dev ji expalins :
Akhan jore chupai na jore
Jore na mangan dane na jore
Jor na jivan maran na jore
Jore na raj maal man sore
Jor na surti gian vichar
Jore na jugti chhutai sansaar
Jis hath jore kar vekhai soe
Nanak Uttam neech na koe”
I have neither the power to speak nor that to keep quite, I have neither the power to beg nor to give anything, I have power neither to live or die, I have no power to collect power or wealth which brings mental suffering. I have no sufficient knowledge to reason and have no strength to seek the path by which to renounce the world. One who professes to have the power to do all these things let his do his effort and see. Before Him, in fact, there is no superior or inferior.
