CARDINAL SINS (campared as killings) IN SIKHISM: What of our actions fall under very serious sins / killings

TYPES OF KILLINGS OR SINS & THE BIGGER ONES AMONG THEM

1. Killing of human beings is a sin: Among humans, bigger sin is killing of spiritually knowledge full men / women (saints/ preachers) of any faith or cast or creed.
2. Killing of animals for worldly personal gains is a sin: Among animals, killing of COW is the bigger sin.
3. Killing of infant / abortion / infanticide is a sin: This is a bigger & cardinal sin which is practised in families for personal conveniences.  In India female abortion / infanticide is dominant.
4. Intoxication with wine & tobacco is a sin: Not only that, then gambling & then keeping relationships or contact with female outside marriage. Implies having Pre marriage or extra marital relationships. This is a bigger sin.
5. Killing of a trust is a sin: In this, bigger sin is cheating for wealth with family or friends or business associates or customers or employer at job. Includes gaining wealth by unethical means such as committing fraud or corruption or evading levied taxes / laws of the land.
6. Killing of relationship with spiritual peer is the biggest sin: Apostate, who abandons the Guru / Spiritual Teacher/ Prophet of the faith he belongs to for worldly desires and personal conveniences.   

One having done first five sins may still seek pardon in the court of God upon falling on Guru / Spiritual Teacher/ Prophet 's holy feet. (surrender of his ill character). 

However the apostate would not have even the opportunity to seek pardon, as he/ she has abandoned the very same Guru / Spiritual Teacher/ Prophet who was to save him or her.

ਬਾਮ੍ਹਣ ਗਾਂਈ ਵੰਸ ਘਾਤ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਕਰਾਰੇ।

Baamhan Gaanee Vans Ghaat Aparaadh Karaaray.

बाम्हण गांई वंस घात अपराध करारे ।

(It is said that) The killing of brahmin (spiritual knowledge full men or  women of any cast & cread) , cow and the man or foetus (abortion of foetus) of one's own family is a deadly sin.

Madu Pee Jooay Khayladay Johani Par Naaray.

मदु पी जूए खेलदे जोहनि पर नारे ।

The drunkards gamble and look at the wives of others.

2 ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੩੪ ਪਉੜੀ ੧੬ ਪੰ. ੨

ਮੁਹਨਿ ਪਰਾਈ ਲਛਮੀ ਠਗ ਚੋਰ ਚਗਾਰੇ।

Muhani Paraaee Lakhimee Tdag Chor Chagaaray.

मुहनि पराई लखिमी ठग चोर चगारे ।

The thieves and decoits loot other's wealth 

3 ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੩੪ ਪਉੜੀ ੧੬ ਪੰ. ੩

ਵਿਸਾਸ ਧ੍ਰੋਹੀ ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣਿ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਤਿਆਰੇ।

Visaas Dhrohee Akirataghan Paapee Hatiaaray.

विसास ध्रोही अकिरतघण पापी हतिआरे ।

These all are treacherous, ungrateful, sinners and killers.

4 ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੩੪ ਪਉੜੀ ੧੬ ਪੰ. ੪

ਲਖ ਕਰੋੜੀ ਜੋੜੀਅਨਿ ਅਣਗਣਤ ਅਪਾਰੇ।

Lakh Karorhee Jorheeani Anaganat Apaaray.

लख करोड़ी जोड़ीअनि अणगणत अपारे ।

If such persons are gathered in infinite number;

5 ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੩੪ ਪਉੜੀ ੧੬ ਪੰ. ੫

ਇਕਤੁ ਲੂਇ ਨ ਪੁਜਨੀ ਬੇਮੁਖ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੧੬॥

Ikatu Looi N Pujanee Baymoukh Guraduaaray ॥16॥

इकतु लूइ न पुजनी बेमुख गुरदुआरे ॥१६॥

Even they all are not equal to the single hair of the apostate.

FIND WHAT GURBANI HAVE TO SAY

GURBANI is the word of GOD - Hyms delivered on Earth by Sikhs founder Guru Nanak Ji and these words now rest in Sikhs 11th & the ever living Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Gurbani has crystal clear commented on people who has not become disciple of the Guru - Spiritual Teacher and have referred to them as :

(a) Nigurey;

(b) Gurmantar heenus;

(c) Sakat;

(d) Manmukh or Vemukh, and

(e) Vedeen (Faithless), etc.

How soever prominent or outstanding they may be in the social and public life of the community. Gurbani defines such terms as under:

(a) Nigurey: one who has not become disciple of the Guru

Nigurey Ko Gat Kaaee Naahee Avgann Muthhey, Chotaan Khahee. (pg 361)

For him who is without the Guru, there is no liberation. Deluded by evil propensities, he suffers.

Satgur Bajhon Gur Nahi Koee Nigurey Kaa Hai Naao Bura (pg. 435)

Without the True Guru (i.e. Guru Nanak), there is not another Guru. And one without the Guru is known as evil.

(b) Gurmantar-heenus: One who has not been blessed with the Gurmantra (Naam).

Gurmantar-Heenus Jo Praani Dhrigant Janam Bharashtneh. Kookreh Sookreh Gardheh Kaakeh Sarpaneh Tul Khaieh (pg. 1356-1357)

One who is without the Gurmantra, is the most accursed, and contaminated is his life. He is like a dog, a swine, an ass, a crow a snake, and a blockhead.

(c) Saakat: Infidel

Saakat Suaan Kaheeyey Baho Lobhee, Baho Dunnat Mael Bhareejeypg. 1326)

The dog like infidel is said to be very avaricious and is full to the brim of evil thoughts.

Saakat Besuva Poot Ninaam (pg 1239)

The infidel is nameless like a prostitute's son.

(d) Manmukh: One who follows his own will; the egocentric.

Manmukh Oodha Kowi Hai, Na Tis Bhagat Na Naao (pg. 511)

The egocentric person (i.e. Manmukh) is like a reversed lotus and possesses neither devotion nor God's name.

Manmukil Seti Sang Karey, Muh Kalaldi Daag Lagaaey (pg. 1417)

Whosoever associates with an egoist, to his countenance attaches the stigma of blackness.

Manmukh Naam Na Jannani, Vinn Naavey Pat Jaaey... Vishta Kay Keerray Pavey Wich Vishta Se Vishta Mahe Samaaye(pg. 28)

The egocentrics know not the Naam, and without Naam lose their honor... They are worms of excrement, fall in excrement, and get absorbed in excrement.

(e) Vedeen: The faithless; the irreligious

Choraan, Jaaran, Randiaan, Kuttaneeya Di Baan. Vedinaa Ki Dosti Vedlnaa Ka Khaann Sifti Saar Naa Jannani, Sada Vasey Saitaan (pg. 790)

It is the habit of thieves, adulterers, prostitutes, and pimps that they contract friendship with the irreligious or faithless and eat their food; they know not the worth of God's praise and Satan ever abides within them.

केते बरमे घाड़ित घड़ीअिह रूप रंग के वेस ॥

kaytay barmay ghaarhat gharhee-ahi roop rang kay vays.

So many Brahmas fashioning forms of great beauty, adorned and dressed in many colors.

(Brahma is an Administrative Deity with activity of Creator for our Solar System)

ਕੇਤੀਆ ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮੀ ਮੇਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਧੂ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥ (7)

केतीआ करम भूमी मेर केते केते धू उपदेस ॥

kaytee-aa karam bhoomee mayr kaytay kaytay Dhoo updays.

So many worlds and lands for working out

karma. So very many lessons to be 

learned!

ਕੇਤੇ ਇੰਦ ਚੰਦ ਸੂਰ ਕੇਤੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਦੇਸ ॥ (7)

केते इंद चंद सूर केते केते मंडल देस ॥

kaytay ind chand soor kaytay kaytay mandal days.

So many Indras, so many moons and suns, so many worlds and lands.

(Indra is an Administrative Deity incharge of group of activity for our Solar System)

ਕੇਤੇ ਿਸਧ ਬੁਧ ਨਾਥ ਕੇਤੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਦੇਵੀ ਵੇਸ ॥ (7)

केते िसध बुध नाथ केते केते देवी वेस ॥

kaytay siDh buDh naath kaytay kaytay dayvee vays.

So many Siddhas and Buddhas, so many Yogic masters. So many goddesses of various

kinds.

ਕੇਤੇ ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨਵ ਮੁਿਨ ਕੇਤੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਰਤਨ ਸਮੁੰਦ ॥ (7)

केते देव दानव मुिन केते केते रतन समुंद ॥

kaytay dayv daanav mun kaytay kaytay ratan samund.

So many demi-gods and demons, so many silent sages. So many oceans of jewels.

ਕੇਤੀਆ ਖਾਣੀ ਕੇਤੀਆ ਬਾਣੀ ਕੇਤੇ ਪਾਤ ਨਿਰੰਦ ॥ (7)

केतीआ खाणी केतीआ बाणी केते पात निरद ॥

kaytee-aa khaanee kaytee-aa banee kaytay paat narind.

So many ways of life, so many languages. So many dynasties of rulers.

ਕੇਤੀਆ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੇਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਅੰਤੁ ॥੩੫॥ (7)

केतीआ सुरती सेवक केते नानक अंतु न अंतु ॥३५॥

kaytee-aa surtee sayvak kaytay naanak ant na ant. ||35||

So many intuitive people, so many selfless servants. O Nanak, His limit has no limit! ||35||
